Best horror games 2021
Horror games are quite an interesting niche, and a lot of players enjoy them at least occasionally. We will explore some of the best Xbox and PS5 horror games that you can still play on 2021. Some of these games are rather old, but they already have a place in the Pantheon of horror games. Others were just published and can be played only on the new generation of consoles. We will discover games that include cinematic techniques, making them play and feel like a horror movie, action games that have shooter elements, and present a balance between stealth and combat, interactive games, horror games that presents puzzles, and more. Some games are exclusive for one game system, where most of the games could be played on multiple devices. The list is large enough to include new and old, as well as various sub-genres, so many fans will probably find several games of their liking and some that they were not aware of. So let's begin!
Resident Evil Village
Resident Evil Village looks to pull out another of franchise's big actions horror hits, and judging by the results they did a very good job. Resident Evil Village is a spectacular survival horror video game with lots of action embedded and another game called Mercenaries at the end of the main one. This is the first major title that offers something like this, and Mercenaries is a nice game in its own. After Resident Evil 7's murder horror reinvented the series, Village brings back some older Resi feels that most players appreciate. If you are hyped for RE Village, you should make sure you check out Resident Evil 8 as well. Resident Evil Village's ESRB rating is gruesome even for a Resident Evil game, but you want a game like this for the horror it could provide as a form of entertainment. It has "intense violence and gore" and it is not made for children.
Resident Evil Village has a lot of good things to offer, and we found it a more balanced game than previous ones. You have your horror moment in RE Village, but the action is also in the main spot. Capcom has just revealed a masterpiece and we have the feeling this game will be iconic. It seems the recent Resident Evil Village gameplay works for a lot of people and it is no surprise the game climbs the tops of the genre. There is no denying that there are large changes at every level, but we believe all improve the game and makes the overall result better. From gameplay to narrative style, combat, characters and more, Resident Evil Village is a better game than previous iterations. Everything Capcom's learned so far seems to fit inside RE Village. It is a game that survival horror fans will enjoy.

Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 2 is a masterful return of a classic survival horror game. Capcom place a fantastic deal of care and attention to detail into remaking maybe the all-time greatest survival horror games, Resident Evil 2. It is hard to fault this video game that looks nothing like an old game. You will discover exciting puzzles, breathtaking graphics, extreme chases, and robust voice acting that make the characters endearing. Resident Evil 2 is everything a video game remake ought to be and Capcom did the unthinkable with this one. RE2 provides players that vibe of isolation in a city full of zombies. It's the ideal mix of nostalgia and amazing modern gameplay which everyone may enjoy.
Now, rather than pixelated characters running out of pre-rendered backdrop to pre-rendered background, Resident Evil 2 is a completely 3D, over-the-shoulder affair with atmospheric lighting effects, and impressive facial animations. But what I like best about the new remakes is the zombies. I do not exaggerate when I say that in RE2 remastered I met the best-looking zombies I have ever seen at a game. Resident Evil 2 is a faithful recreation of the 1998 survival horror classic, yet it's been rebuilt from the bottom up, resurrecting iconic locations utilizing the proprietary RE Engine. Resident Evil 2 is so glossy, so nicely made, with so much love, it is basically a must-play.

The Evil Within 2
The Evil Within 2 is a strong survival horror game released in 2017 by Bethesda Softworks and it is a good example of modern survival-horror video games. Everything at this game is impressive, inclusive the graphics that works very well with the gameplay creating a tense and dark atmosphere that fans of the genre will certainly enjoy. The story is impressive, keeping you playing even when the too-close camera could driving you mad during the action beats. The thing that will be appreciated most is the atmospheric scares that is among the best. Also if you enjoy cheap PS5 games, The Evil Within 2 could be played on the new consoles and it is probably the less expensive among the games on the list. Developers never resorted to cheap jump tactics. Not only does it erase some bad memories regarding the first game, but The Evil Within 2 is one of the best horror games you will find.
Combat is another element of the gameplay that will captivate your attention. Players have the liberty to chose between combat and stealth gameplay along the way as in any great survival horror game. When stealth isn't a viable solution, you'll want to dispatch enemies using as couple bullets as you can. Precise headshots kill most normal enemies in one or two shots but they are not necessarily easy to pull off. You can even shoot enemies inside their legs and if they fall into the floor, it is possible to quickly run to them and stomp out their lights. It is a violent game, but it only makes it better. Melee attacks are just another option in your arsenal of combat moves, but they're not terribly potent and you are probably going to wind up taking damage as you're repeatedly stabbing a foe. The Evil Within 2 is a better game than its predecessor, elevating design and gameplay.

Until Dawn
Until Dawn is an interactive drama and survival horror game in which the player controls several characters and features a butterfly influence system where the player's options can alter the narrative and may dictate who survives the night. Until Dawn does not always live up to what Supermassive Games envisioned for its ambitious project, but it is a successful game that can easily be played today on the new PS5 consoles. This videogame succeeds in several ways to make a fascinating and engrossing twist on the horror genre. You will love the atmosphere created and the unique gameplay. I am sure it is not a game for everyone, but if you like horror films like "Scream" and you want to discover new ways in which a survival horror gameplay may be satisfying, than you should pick up Until Dawn.
You need to go through the genre with a few optimism in the story's outcome. Until Dawn is a superb option for survival horror fans. Survival horror is a subgenre of action-adventure and horror movie games that concentrates on survival of the personality as the game tries to frighten gamers with horror images or frightening ambiance. Until Dawn is a very good game and fits the definition. Critics praised the branching character of the story, butterfly influence system, world construction, personalities, and utilization of fast time events. There are other things that worth mentioning, including very good music graphics. I can easily recommend Until Dawn, it is just different than other survival-horror games.
Resident Evil 7
Resident Evil 7 presents the hero Ethan Winters, a milquetoast protagonist whose hunt for his lost wife leads him into the bayou of Louisiana. Ethan finds himself tortured by a family of murderous cannibals called "the Bakers". Both in the particulars and overall tone of its own apparently standalone narrative, a lot of Resident Evil 7 is under the sign of plague. We witness a world in which death caused by a zombie epidemic roots this game series. I will not spoil the game for you, but RE7 might finally enlarged and increased the Resident Evil's world. You do not have to be spent 20 decades of backstory to understand and play this console game. You can jump right in and you will probably like the action part of this survival-horror video game. Sometime, Resident Evil 7 is consider one of the Xbox shooter games category, and the accent on shooting is obvious.
Originally, RE7 almost does not feel like a Resident Evil game. The change into a first-person standpoint, together with a comparatively slow pace, provides a sense reminiscent of narrative-focused indie videogames such as Firewatch and Gone Home. It is different from the rapid current entries in the game series under some aspects and you will have a feeling that is something new worth exploring. Resident Evil is at its finest when it is doing something brand new. A decade after, Resident Evil 4 altered instructions with a pitch-perfect action experience that is arguably the most long-running game series' emphasize, and helped form the expression of action videogames in the years which followed. While Capcom doesn't require a degree in Resident Evil lore to jump into Resident Evil 7, there are echoes of the series' history within it. Dulvey, Louisiana, is not Raccoon City, but like the first Resident Evil, RE7 takes place in and around a single large house. It is probably the most action oriented game of the series, a solid Xbox FPS game, so if you want a game that is more bent towards shooting, then Resident Evil 7 is the perfect choice.
