The best new action adventure video games of this year

In the last minutes we will focus on two of the best action role-playing video games that come out in the first half of the year: Shadow of the Tomb Raider, developed by Eidos Montréal and published by Square Enix, and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The games are available for PC and Xbox as well, but we had the chance to play them on PS4.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Shadow of the Tomb Raider marks the conclusion of a trilogy, one that placed to develop Lara's character and emotional journey, against the usual confines of an AAA action game title. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, characters criticize your disregard for tombs and objects, while there are some consequences to Lara pursuit of one particular Mayan artifact early in the game title. Among the new ps4 games just released, Shadow of the Tomb Raider should attract a lot of players, due in main part on the Tomb Raider license, but the game worth to be played even if you are not interested in the story.
With Shadow of the Tomb Raider, we get one of the best episodes of the franchise. It doesn't mean to revolutionize the formulation the reboot set in place in 2013, but it's a quite interesting story and a racing setting, provides a well balanced experience, and has a enormous quantity of challenges which will surely please loads of virtual explorers. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an anime open-world action role-playing video game that will make the fans of the series very happy. It manages to incorporate into a single game, almost all important events of the DBZ universe. It is a good starting point if you never played a game of the series, or even if you are not a fan of the anime, but you want to find out what is it that makes it so famous. Kakarot is a wonderful recreation of the DBZ saga, and I think it is a nice action-RPG game to play, one of the nicest ps4 games that were released this year. This time, players have the chance to immerse in the DBZ world, interact with the other characters, and explore the open world. It is more role-playing than action (we remember that the previous games were more action than role-playing, the story being narrated by cutscenes).
Dragon Ball Z Kakarot enables players to relive the story of Goku and the rest of the Z Fighters that you must love (considering you are interested in the anime and manga phenomenon). This DBZ game takes a different route than the recent fighting game like Dragon Ball FighterZ and offers a lot more RPG elements and freedom to explore the open-world. In April 2020, Bandai Namco Entertainment announced the first DLC for the game titled "A New Power Awakens - Part 1", that you can also enjoy at this time. The new DLC follows Goku in his adventures after Dragon Ball Z and introduces characters and storylines from Dragon Ball Super 14.
Although it's named Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, you are able to play as a litany of the main characters featured throughout the series including Gohan, Piccolo, Trunks and Vegeta as they go on their quest to hunt the Dragon Balls, save Earth by way of lots of punching (the fighting part is almost unchanged), or just have a lovely time fishing, or doing some other activities in the DBZ environment (now you can). Even as entries like the Legacy of Goku series gave a solid effort to come up with an RPG based on Akira Toriyama's piece de resistance, it was the fighting games that really buttered Dragon Ball's bread on the video game front. Overall, DBZ Kakarot is a very nice game to play, one that will keep you hooked for hours in front of your screen.


We are waiting for the games that will come out in the next half of the year. I am a fan of the Creed series, so I'll be looking for Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla (probably by Christmas).
