Best 10 Action-Adventure Video Games 2020

What are the best action-adventure games 2020?

The best action-adventure video games are: Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Sekiro Shadows Die Twice, Red Dead Redemption 2, Nioh 2, Death Stranding, Days Gone, Final Fantasy XV, GreedFall, Just Cause 4, and Resident Evil 3 Remastered. We took into consideration various factors, including the game reviews and number of units sold internationally. You may not agree with the selection, but you'll certainly find something you will like bellow. Links to the best offers included.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

The game is a revelation, it's the nearest you are going to get to a Tomb Raider video game. It's sweat dripping environments whether in a jungle in Peru or in a grave covered in blood or swimming through water caves filled with dead bodies made me feel like I needed to have a shower. Regardless of the age of the franchise, this game is keeping up with modern games and surpassing them whatsoever. With a story that manages to satisfactorily tread the line between high-concept fun and grounded character exploration, Shadow of the Tomb Raider meaningfully wraps up the journey Lara started in 2013 and convincingly leaves her in a place resembling where she had been when we were first introduced to her over 20 years ago. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the best video game in this trilogy and was worth the wait. I have been trying to hold myself back with gushing about all of the things so that I don't spoil it for everybody, but seriously this video game is a masterpiece. With plenty of new fighting techniques and exciting new weapons, Shadow of the Tomb Raider features the most intense combat of the series. Yes, there are a number of things which bothered me while playing but the experience was magnificent and shouldn't be missed.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is one of the most challenging From Software games to date. From various ornery samurai, to a monstrous albino ape, to giant serpents and dragons, the game's big baddies are wildly imaginative and varied. For a Dark Souls or Bloodborne player, unlearning those games' combat styles to embrace Sekiro's is a tough ask, and I think it's why I and so many other FromSoftware fans are struggling with this game's more demanding fights. Sekiro is a challenging and brutal game that admits no errors. The authors of Bloodborne and Souls makes us suffer again but, at the exact same time, provides the type of experience that enables us to emerge reinforced at the opposite side. After 40 hours of gameplay the sword fights even against the most common mobs where nothing sort of thrilling and satisfying. Despite the fact that it's their hardest console game so far it rarely feels unfair, nudging us constantly to learn from our mistakes, learn the enemies and learn that the deathblow is only one katana slash away. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is an exhilarating journey that demands your full attention. Because of its layers of complexity and countless ways to tackle a tough spot, Sekiro is so unique, even if it remains true to the elements of a Dark Souls-like experience.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an open world experience which has a lot of content concerning side quests and actions, while it keeps delivering human drama and cinematic. This is much more than "just a cowboy video game". RDR 2 it is a videogame whose most systems and rich universe feel quite unlike anything else. It's a video game of restraint, but with some brutal sucker punches; a cowboy army's narrative who's nothing without the people about him. It's a game title about the fear of the future that reaches astounding new technical heights, and makes Rockstar game look and feel like ancient history. It is a victory to which there is only one answer - and a suitable one. Hats off. It is simply incredible what developers were able to create. But beyond the score that is varied, the visuals, and the gameplay, the story is something memorable and unique. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a must-play for its entertainment value, its boundary-pushing, and its location as a moment in video game titles.

Nioh 2

This is effectively Ninja Gaiden cranked up to your own custom created character and eleven with RPG elements; one which has a past that provides them with abilities that are otherworldly. And if that doesn't make you want to play with Nioh 2, I don't know what will. If you struggled with levels and enemies, or the difficulty don't expect to feel vastly different about Nioh 2. Team Ninja has improved almost all of the components to varying degrees, but the experience is very familiar. If you mixed the level design and gameplay atmosphere of video games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne with the tendency to throw frustrating one-hit/two-hit kills you'd have Nioh 2. It isn't perfect, not by any means, but it is among the most interesting and compelling video games in the Soulslike category to date. With most games I have enjoyed, I have had no problem taking breaks and doing other activities, but all I wanted to do since picking up Nioh 2 was play Nioh 2. The only thing holding Nioh 2 back is thin veneer and the fair soundtrack of a narrative. I cannot wait to get lost in the DLC to come. For building on what you created in the Nioh kudos for you, Team Ninja.

Death Stranding

Death Stranding is a strange action video game, and I do not know how people will judge it as it creates a new genre. We know it is the Award Winning - The Game of the Year, so we know what critics believe about it. I have always been a massive fan of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, and I highly appreciate Hideo Kojima's previous work before Death Stranding. Hideo Kojima's latest masterful accomplishment Death Stranding should be played to have a personal opinion. There's no question "Death Stranding" is a clear departure from Director Hideo Kojima's last game, "Metal Gear Solid V." While "Metal Gear Solid" is a military-focused franchise starring a super soldier, "Death Stranding" puts you in control of a lone deliveryman in a desolate, post-apocalyptic that's wide open for exploration. The game casts players as Sam Porter Bridges, a delivery man who risks his life and safety to take jobs of transporting various goods to people across a fractured representation of an alternate history United States. Death Stranding continues Kojima's lean away from the tightly controlled and constructed level design of the Metal Gear Solid games and leans into the open-world trend that has infected more or less every genre now. Hideo Kojima's first post-Metal Gear Solid game is the wonderful, mournful Death Stranding.

Days Gone

Days Gone kicks off relatively you play as a biker beating enemy, seeking answers and riding through an zombie post-apocalypse faces with crunchy melee weapons there are hordes of them. There is some fun to be had here - the entire world is pretty to look at, the action is competent when everything comes together, and riding that bike has its own thrills - but the repetitive assignments, idiotic plot and paper thin characters starve Days Gone of any excitement long before the credits roll. Not ten minutes went by without some type of stuttering from cutscenes or the gameplay if Days Gone struggled to keep up with a bicycle speeding down a horde or a street. Days Gone tells the story of Deacon St. John, a former biker outlaw who has to endure the zombie (known here as Freakers") apocalypse with help from an old friend and whatever alliances he can form along the way. Hell, the main character is a motorcycle-riding, crossbow-wielding tough guy with a big heart -- the description practically screams, We are gonna borrow that!" Again, Deacon St. John retains those feelings at bay, and he keeps the story moving and grounded despite some B-movie plotting and well-worn cliches.

Final Fantasy XV

Final Fantasy XV is an action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016, Microsoft Windows in 2018, and Stadia. The game features an open world environment and action-based battle system, incorporating quick-switching weapons, elemental magic, and other features such as vehicle travel and camping. The base campaign was later expanded with lots of DLC, adding further gameplay options such as additional playable characters and multiplayer. FFXV does away with the concept of random and turn-based battles, the menu-based combat system familiar to anyone who's played previous Final Fantasy games. Central to every smaller story it wants to tell is friendship; the kind of coming-of-age friendship that feels like, and often is, the most important thing in the world to those bound by it. It was a brilliantly underrated stroke to frame this Final Fantasy, a very good game that I highly recommend.

GreedFall

GreedFall is another good action-RPG that it is entertaining to play. GreedFall's various difficulty levels also ensure that RPG fans of all stripes can enjoy the game's pacing, be they casual players who just want to soak in the world and story or hardcore tactical combat enthusiasts who want every encounter to have life-or-death stakes. The narrative and story of Greedfall can be at times somewhat predictable and some of the characters are quite easily forgotten as within the 4 factions you come across in this game, Natives, Nobles, Mercenaries and Missionaries, each NPC you encounter from each faction all act very similar to each other, this isn't by means a bad mechanic but it does mean factions aren't always memorable which is a real shame. With so much invested in the story, you may wonder if Greedfall manages to avoid a lot of the pitfalls many story-driven games make when it comes to overall combat and gameplay.

Just Cause 4

Just Cause 4 offers explosive fun thanks to Rico's neat bag of tricks, but feels too similar to Just Cause 3. If you're looking for an open world playground to mess around in, Just Cause 4 provides a nice space for that. But between the missions which boiled down to the same thing, an army management screen that seemed largely irrelevant. Just Cause 4 fulfills the promise of what a Just Cause video game should be better than some of its predecessors. Rico's out to find something out about his father, but there is never any unexpected punches or twists that are unexpected to push players. Rico's grappling hook is involved by some of the most gameplay additions. Cause 4 is a fun ride with a exciting and memorable effort, full of thrilling minutes.

Resident Evil 3

This shouldn't come as a surprise, but playing Resident Evil 3 feels almost exactly the same as playing Resident Evil 2. Jill's movement speed, the way the guns handle, the UI for interacting with the world and your inventory — all of it communicates that this game, as much as it is a reimagining of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, is also very much a continuation of the ideas Capcom developed in the Resident Evil 2 remake. Jill Valentine, Carlos Oliveira, and Nemesis have been unsurprisingly reworked for the Resident Evil 3 remake, with many opining that Jill's new look is more realistic considering the perilous situation she finds herself in. Nemesis looks even more terrifying than his 1999 appearance in the original PlayStation game, while Carlos' hair now has more of a post-apocalyptic zombie-killing disheveled quality to it. Continuing their streak of redoing their vintage survival horror series for modern systems, Capcom released Resident Evil 3 in 2020, an evergreen iconic horror survival video game.
