Days Gone PS4 Review: The open-world zombie action-adventure video game we’ve wanted
While I am not the greatest fan of the open-world genre, whatever survival-horror having an end-of-the-world background -- whether it is an all-consuming virus, divine intervention or social collapse -- and I am first in line to try it. Zombies, guns and sandboxes -- does not get old.
Lots of people, to my surprise, have scoffed at Days Gone and its own brand of gritty story-telling and fast-moving undead -- known as Freakers. Perhaps it's the admittedly silly title swap, or perhaps it's just plain (and ridiculous!) zombie fatigue. In any case, I jumped in with a combination of enthusiasm and caution, and thankfully discovered that the high-quality zombie slaying, survivor-drama experience I hoped for, just somewhat bogged down by choppy opening hours and recurring bugs.
Days Gone is a compelling post-apocalypse survival-horror title that will appeal best to fans of the open-world genre and all the tantalising horror scenarios that come with a zombie backdrop. This is not a cheap ps4 game, however it worth every penny.
